[announcement] CFML Support for Lucee

If you’ve been anywhere near the Tweety Pages this morning, you’ve probably noticed there’s a new CFML engine in town called Lucee.

Lucee is a fork of Railo and has Gert, Micha, Igal, etc on board, but under a new company. Since it’s already been asked, yes-- ColdBox 4.0 already supports Lucee.

This is fantastic news for the advancement of CFML. Kudos to Lucee and kudos to *Box for being on board from the get-go!

If micha igal and gert have switched to lucee, this means that railo is dead?

Technically there is still an entity called “The Railo Company” that owns Railo (and has for years now). However, “Railo Switzerland”, the company that Gert, Micha, etc worked for is no longer contributing to the project. So in short, Railo won’t really go away, but in my personal opinion, it won’t see any new releases.

All the people and vision have been redirected over to the Lucee project. In fact, Ortus Solutions (Makers of ColdBox) are already onboard as a member of the new Lucee Association Switzerland that owns Lucee so we are already invested and I expect to see a lot of new things coming out very soon.

Thanks!
