SES urls won’t work in a subdirectory on stock tomcat. Adobe uses a modified version of Tomcat to support this (jrun supported it originally too) and we’ve mixed some special magic pixie fairy dust into CommandBox so it works there as well. Note, you’ll need to tweak the rewrite rules if you want them to work on a sub dir too.
I would just recommend using CommandBox for all your servers
