Can you explain how it is smashed? I thought ContentBox does what you need, but it’s just up to you to provide the excerpt/full text functionality in your layout?

Absolutely right. I think, the URL should or even must change for the full page in terms of search engines and bookmarking.
Forget the links to docs, show us real world examples of what he is trying to achieve. If it is that popular of a concept, then why is the net not riddled with examples?

If ContentBox could make this evolution, it would be a great “thumbs up”. This concept would give us the feature to have more than one article per page nearly for free.
It f I read that right, he wants a paid content part, where the excerpt is displayed publicly and the same URL is used for the full paid Content. If that is the case secure the URL and use the layout to display what it needs too.
We are finishing up a site for a client which uses member logins and we just added a security check into the layout such that if the user was logged in with the appropriate membership level we rendered the full content. if not, we rendered only the excerpt with the options to either login or sign up. We didn’t have to add anything to the core though-- the layout just figured out what it needed to display.

Maybe not the perfect word. The site will be a support site, which will have many many support related articles. Usualy articles like this are long and therefore the Excerpt/Long-Text thing makes really sense.
