I just use it for convention and ease of use. At the end of the day it
translates to a CF structure. For 2.1.0 the config.xml will be optional, You can
declare all your settings in the config.cfm or a cfc. So watch out!
But yes,
its for ease of use in representing data much cleaner than structures. But you
are right, at the end of the day its CF. That is why I prefer convention over
configuration. Thus, the xml-less logic.
For configuring your app, well, it is
just a convention and easily to understand, but all that could change.
