Performance consideration, database layout for content

I think it would be better to store the hit count in a separate table, with a transaction orientated database table changes could lead to locks during high traffic.

If I got it right each hit increases the counter. Wouldn’t it be better to count up in application server and periodically increase the counter let says for 100 page hits or each hour?

Is there a way to disable the hit count globally?

Hi Gunnar, this seems to be interesting, can we expand on this to see if we can collaborate and make a more profficient change? I know you love performance oriented apps

Yes, right now it is very simplistic. Maybe we can formulate together something more appealing.

Hi Luis,

I will speak with the guys on Monday and see if we could make a suggestion.

Gunnar

Thanks Gunnar!

Seems like this could be a great little addition. Perfection is in the details!
