The future of contentbox

HI guys,

I don’t want be negative, just asking.

I see you are developing a lot of projects and I wanna know something about contentbox.

  1. Will be contentbox converted to a coldbox 4 app?

  2. Will contentbox fully support the new lucee server?

  3. A lot of features that were on the roadmap for the last year aren’t ready yet( I’m interested most on multi-site support ), the only reason why I’m using mura on some sites is this feature.
I’m migrating a lot of app to the new lucee and coldbox 4. Really don’t know what to do with contentbox. I know you all guys made an awesome work with a lot of open source projects and probably contentbox is not the priority but I want just know if will be some upgrade in the next months.

The answers to questions 1 and 2 and yes and yes. I’ll let Luis or Joel answer question 3. I know ContentBox did get back-burnered a bit this last year but I don’t know what the timeline is for it. If your company highly values some of the items on our roadmap, we’re always interested in corporate sponsorship of features.

Thanks!

HI guys,

I don’t want be negative, just asking.

I see you are developing a lot of projects and I wanna know something about contentbox.

  1. Will be contentbox converted to a coldbox 4 app?

Yes. We did the ColdBox 4 release about 1 week ago, so still trying to make sure all is ok, as we are also releasing CommandBox this week. ContentBox is next. We will do a 2.1 release which is almost finalized right now and then 3.0 release with a migration to CB4 in about 1 month.

  1. Will contentbox fully support the new lucee server?

Yes. This will be part of the 2.1 release.

  1. A lot of features that were on the roadmap for the last year aren’t ready yet( I’m interested most on multi-site support ), the only reason why I’m using mura on some sites is this feature.

Yes. We understand, but these are big features and sometimes we defer to client work as they pay the bills. We have not had a client or a sponsor for this, so we are waiting for the right time to implement.

I’m migrating a lot of app to the new lucee and coldbox 4. Really don’t know what to do with contentbox. I know you all guys made an awesome work with a lot of open source projects and probably contentbox is not the priority but I want just know if will be some upgrade in the next months.

Yes, and we will need you for testing. We also need ContentBox to run on lucee as we will migrate all our sites to it. So it is imperative it is supported.

Thanks for your reply. I’d like to try to do myself and then of course make a pull request. I was thinking how to do multisite and found that all content extend Basecontent class, so an idea would be to add a relationship to a new object “Site.cfc” that store the domani/path of the site and then filter the content by the domain after an interceptor check. The same should be done also for authors, settings and menu.

What do you think? is this a good way to go? Or I should try another approach?

Actually we just finished lucee support for ContentBox.

Yes. You can see our feature branch for ideas if you like. The problem arises with security. I think the best way to start is with a URL diagram
