ContentBox Connection today

Hi all, it’s been a few weeks since we’ve done a ContentBox Connection. I’m planning on doing today’s scheduled meeting. If Luis is available, we’ll talk about the latest features to come out with ContentBox, and perhaps discuss the next steps for multilingual admin. If Luis can’t make it, I’ll do a demo on using Couchbase with ContentBox for distributed session, ORM, and template caching.

Thanks!

Here is the ContentBox Connection recording for today.

I took a scratch ContentBox Express install and demoed configuring the following on it:

  • Couchbase for 2nd level ORM cache
  • Couchbase for ColdBox template cache
  • Couchbase for Railo session storage via the Ortus Railo Couchbase Extension.
Please let us know if you have any questions or want to try a trial of our Railo Couchbase Extension.

Here’s a link to the first in our blog series that covers everything I talked about today. Each entry has links to the previous and next entry in the series:

Thanks for the show. It was a perfect intro into Couchbase

I have to get an new microphone, which is not on the food list of any dogs

That’s what you get for buying the bacon-scented microphone

Thanks!

I spend some time reading the different blog entries about Couchbase. Really cool stuff. I have toi install it on my Railo-Box to test it.

I’m not sure, if small business websites, which is our main clientel, can make some benefits using Couchbase. If i can compare Couchbase with a big truck, you need to load the truck with a lot of stuff to make it worthy. Right?

On the other hand, a lot of small business websites can share a Couchbase installation, which maybe gives a better overall performance?

It will difficult to measure this.

Cheers

I’d say there are two reasons why you would want to use Couchase for your site:

  1. For the features of a NoSQL JSON document store. This could come no matter how small the site, but is something you have to answer.
  2. For performance. This should be easy to measure if you have a good staging environment and load testing tools. Even a “small” business website can have processes that benifit from caching, but base your decision of solid data collected from concurrent load testing.
    Thanks!
